Why I read. Blog Post 2

I read as a sort of a getaway, when I read I am not at home sitting on the couch; I am where the author wants me to be. Reading provides a different world, for example in Harry Potter; I imagine I am in Hogwarts with Harry, Hermione, and Ron, going with them to their adventures. I like the fact that reading is universal, there are the same stories all around the world, although the story may be altered a little, the basic concept is the same. Reading is a break from my everyday stressful life. When I am tired after school, or in the middle of studying; I read, rather than sleep, like most people. I read, because it is a break from life, and reading is an effective way to relieve stress, and to gather my brain before I start my homework, or study for my tests. I first began reading at a young age, my older brother used to read to me, and I essentially taught myself to read at an early age. I competed against my older brother who was the better reader (I won), and I didn’t put a book down for months. I remember reading “Harry Potter” when I was in first grade.
